Chemistry (2-3)

We will explore hydrocarbons, focusing on the different types of bonds they contain, and how replacing hydrogen atoms with different functional groups leads to the formation of diverse organic compounds. We will also study how biological organic compounds perform essential activities for living cells. Additionally, we will learn that gases respond to changes in pressure, temperature, volume, and the number of particles in predictable ways.

Introduction to hydrocarbons, alkanes, alkenes and alkynes, hydrocarbon isomers, aromatic hydrocarbons, alkyl halides and aryl halides, alcohols, ethers and amines, carbonyl compounds, other reactions of organic compounds, polymers, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, gas law, ideal gas law, calculations involving gases.
