Introduction to Mathematics (MATH 2004111)

This course is designed to cover various topics in Algebra. It includes pre-algebra topics such as Arithmetic, Fractions, and word problems, as needed. The course will also cover Sets and Real Numbers, Exponents and Radicals, Rational Expressions, Linear Equations, and Linear Inequalities in one variable. Equations and Inequalities involving Absolute Value, Quadratic Equations, Functions and Graphs, Polynomials and Rational Functions, Combining Functions, Logarithmic Functions and Exponential Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Matrices and Determinants, Solving Systems of Linear Equations, Arithmetic Sequences and Series, and Geometric Sequences and Series will also be covered.

Set Numbers R –Real Intervals, Solution of Linear Equation, Solution of Inequality and Properties of Inequality in R, Absolute Value of a Real Number and Absolute Value Equations and Inequalities, General 2nd Order Equation (Quadratic), Polynomial and Higher Order Equations, Division Algorithm, Synthetic Division, Evaluating Polynomial Functions Using the Remainder Theorem, Factor Theorem, Finding Zeros of Polynomial Functions, Rational Zeros Theorem, Complex Conjugate Theorem, N-Factorial - Binomial Coefficient, Principle of Mathematical Induction, Proving Statements, Rational Expressions and Partial Fractions, Combination of Functions, Composition of the Functions, Inverse Function, Exponential Functions, Logarithmic Functions, Logarithmic and Exponential Equations, Ordered Pairs, The Rectangular Coordinate System, The Distance Formula and Midpoint Formula, The Slope and Equation of a Line, Equations Parallel Lines and Perpendicular Lines, Equation of the Circle.
